Career Technical Education (CTE)
Career Technical Education (CTE) is heavily rooted in the trades and vocational education, supporting students in their post high school preparation. CTE is a point of pride at Nevada Joint Union High School District (NJUHSD) and within the community. For a district our size, we offer remarkable pathway diversity with over fifty course offerings in eight different industry sectors:Agriculture & Natural Resources ◈ Arts, Media, & Entertainment ◈ Building & Construction Trades

CTE courses are carefully crafted with input from regional and state employers to ensure students are exposed to job skills specific to their chosen industry. NJUHSD has made substantial investments in industry-worthy facilities and equipment, giving all CTE students a workplace experience in the classroom. Through a multi-year sequence of courses, students can achieve mastery in the essential standards for their chosen pathway. In addition to course grades, students often earn industry-recognized certification ranging from worksite safety to hands-on skills competency. Ultimately, we support all interested and eligible CTE students to participate in paid or unpaid internships, both on and off campus where possible.
It should be emphasized that NJUHSD ensures that students taking CTE courses are not making a choice between college or career. In many cases, students can work toward the honor of becoming a CTE pathway completer, a distinction recognized at graduation with a designated sash, while receiving CSU/UC A-G credit, as well as benefitting from dual enrollment opportunities in some instances.

Apprenticeship and Pre-Apprenticeship Opportunities
In accordance with California Education Code Section 48980.5, our school district is committed to ensuring students and families are informed about opportunities in apprenticeship and pre-apprenticeship programs.
Apprenticeship programs offer hands-on training in various skilled trades and industries, leading to high-wage careers without the burden of college debt. These programs combine paid employment with classroom instruction and are a valuable pathway for students interested in entering the workforce directly after high school.
