Board Student Representative Election

CANDIDATE STATEMENTS:

Tyden Shupe

"I want to participate in the school board because I think the student voice is important and like helping people feel they have actual power. I am really passionate about representing people, and I feel this would give me a great opportunity. I’m on the student Site Council at Ghidotti as the Vice-Chairman and one thing I like to do after every meeting is send out a message of what happened during the meeting and what the future holds. Even before meetings I ask for complaints about the School to bring up, and to try and fix or at least voice them to the people in power. Being able to do something like this on a bigger scale for all the schools in the county would be extremely beneficial to give everyone a voice. Because I’m from a smaller school I know how much voices matter and me being able to connect with bigger schools to get a variety of opinions from all over the county will help me fix changes for all the schools, big or small. I’m currently interning under Alison Lehman at the Nevada County County Executive Office, and from this experience I know how important it is to work interconnected between places, and I would be able to work with every student from the county from a schools student government to as small as a person emailing me a complaint. It all matters to me, I don’t care what someone's title is, as long as they have a complaint that I can voice to the County School Board I will. My goal isn't just to hold a title; it’s to be the megaphone for students who feel unheard."

"I would like to represent our students on the school board because I want them to feel like someone is representing their true needs and views on the board. I want to listen to all students, no matter who they are, and take the things they're needing from their schools and work hard to implement those things into our district. I want to work my hardest to represent our student body and make the lives of each and every one of our students better. No matter who they are, or what they're involved in, I want to talk to everybody and commit my efforts to making not only the students' lives in our district better, but also improving our district as a whole so it can help students thrive for many years to come."
