What to Expect at a Board Meeting
The Board Trustees are representatives of the people, elected to ensure that District schools educate students with consideration of state standards, education code, Board policies, current best practices in education, and the interests of the local community. The role of the Board is to govern the school District. The public is welcome to attend the meetings and there is protocol in place to allow participation through Public Comment, but the meeting is a time for the governance team to conduct the business of the District. Board Handbook
The Trustees of the Nevada Joint Union High School Board are committed to demonstrating good governance. To that end, a Governance Handbook has been created and approved. Each Board member has agreed to abide by the protocols and Norms outlined in the handbook and to revist the handbook on a regular basis.

Meeting Information
The Nevada Joint Union High School District Board of Trustees typically hold their regular meetings on the second Wednesday of the month from August to June (there is no meeting in July), beginning at approximately 5:00 p.m. Open session begins at 6:00 p.m. and an additional closed session may be held immediately following at approximately 9:00 p.m. The location of each meeting is at the NJUHSD Board Room located at 112 Nevada City Highway, Nevada City. In December the Board holds an organizational meeting when officers are elected and the Board sets the date, time and place of regular board meetings for the upcoming calendar year.
Board meetings are open and the public is welcome to attend. Closed session begins at 5:00 p.m. Regular opoen session begins at approximately 6:00 p.m.
