A Chromebook is made available to students enrolled in the Nevada Joint Union High School District (NJUHSD) for educational use. Research has indicated that a 1:1 program (issuing each enrolled student an electronic device to access the Internet) increases student engagement and interest levels. Chromebooks allow access to a student-centered, anytime-anywhere, learning environment that allows them to actively create content. Empowering students with their own mobile device promotes a challenging and personalized learning process.
The Chromebook is the responsibility of the student to which it is assigned, as with all NJUHSD instructional materials. This includes costs associated with damages and loss or theft (California Education Code 48904). Students are responsible for the safe and appropriate operation of the Chromebook. Expectations for the use and care of the Chromebook package (Chromebook, charger, and Chromebook bag) are found in the Mobile Device Contract found here (http://www.njuhsd.com/documents/Our%20District/Technology/Mobile_Device_Parent_Contract.pdf).
NJUHSD offers an optional Mobile Device Protection Plan for district owned Chromebooks and other electronic devices checked out for home use. The one-to-one device insurance policy is an optional, inexpensive solution for parents looking to insure the valuable devices put in the hands of students. This annual investment will enroll your child's mobile device in a program that will minimize out-of-pocket costs in the event of damage or loss. The cost is $15 at your school office. Devices will be inspected for damage before the device is enrolled. If you have questions, please contact the NJUHSD Technology Helpdesk at 530.272.9998 or email email@example.com.
