The California Student Aid Commission and Cien Amigos, Consulate General of Mexico in Sacramento, LPC has announced the Steps to College Fair (Pasos A La Universidad) to inform Latino families and students about the expanding oppurtunities available to earn a college degree.  This free fair will take place Saturday, February 4, 2017 from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm at Consulate General of Mexico, 2093 Arena Boulevard in Sacramento.  Workshops will be provided on the California Dream Act and Financial Aid Opportunities.  Register by clicking here.

College Application NACAC Fee Waiver information and application.  For students who have received or are eligible for a fee waiver for the ACT or SAT OR are eligible or participating in the free or reduced lunch program OR receive public assistance OR in foster care OR a ward of the court, check here to see if you qualify for a fee waiver to apply to various colleges.  The form is for traditional high school students applying to post-secondary colleges or universities in the fall immediately following high school graduation.  College and universities have the right to refuse the waiver, in which case, you would have to pay the fee.

Cottey College - A private women's college in Nevada, Missouri is only $26,300 per year.  It has recently added Bachelor of Fine Arts (4-year programs) in Environmental Studies, International Relations and Business and in English.

 
EOP (Educational Opportunity Program):   (EOP Booklet)  Only historically low-income and educationally disadvantaged undergraduate students who need admission assistance or support services to succeed in college are admitted to EOP.  They must demonstrate academic potential and motivation, be California residents, and meet the income criteria stated.  While this link is for CSU, UC also offers EOP.

SAT Tests and College Application Fee Waivers-
  For students on Free or Reduced Lunch, you may have up to 2 fee waivers for the SAT test and 2 for the SAT Subject Test.  You may send the scores to an additional 4 colleges (total of 8 colleges) for free.  If you use the SAT fee waiver, you are eligible to receive up to four Requests for Waiver of College Application Fee forms.

University of California will waive application (for admission) fees for up to four campuses for qualified students, who otherwise would be unable to apply.  If you are a U. S. citizen or permanent resident, you can apply for a fee waiver within the application and find out immediately whether or not you qualify.  If your parents claim you as a dependent on their tax returns, ask them for their annual pre-tax income for last year and the current year  (as this is a question on the application).
